Gramantar Vidya Vardhak Sangh, an educational association was registered under Bombay Public Trust act of 1956 with the register no E-107 in the year 1961.
Its main aim is to spread and popularise necessary education from Pre – Primary to Post-graduation. It was started by enthusiastic young friends (Geleyara Balaga) with the blessings of His Holiness Late. Shri Shantaveer Mahaswamiji. His holiness nursed and nurtured education with his farsighted vision. The dream and desire of the great Saint, an inspiring soul, who donated not only 32 acres of land for campus but also gave nearly another 40 acres of cultivable land and building to the association in charity.
The Gramantar Vidya Vardhak Sangh came into existence in 1961. It is flourishing with following Seats of Learning Shri Shantaveer High School (1961) Shri Shantaveer Pre-University College (1971) Shri Shantaveer Arts College (1987), Shri Shantaveer Free-Boarding (1962) to cater the needs of the rural, poor and needy. It is celebrating golden jubilee with meaningful service to the down trodden and rural community without witnessing an election to choose its office bearers in these 50 years.
Shri Shantaveer Arts College, Babaleshwar was established in 1987. It is affiliated to Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. The institution endeavours to impart need based education, develop work efficiency, patriotism, morality and humanity. The college has been recognized by the U.G.C. under 2 (f) and 12 (B) and offers courses in Arts subjects.
The faculty members use modern teaching aids like L.C.D. and internet. The college has provided Laptops to all the teaching staff and L.C.D projectors and screens are fixed in all the class rooms.
The college has 32 acres campus area with a play field of 400 meters track. It has sufficient number of classrooms with an independent library building, gymkhana hall and women’s hostel to house 50 lady students.
During the last twenty three years the college has earned a reputation for its concern to eradicate illiteracy among the rural masses. It has made singular contribution to promote awareness among the rural people regarding the importance of higher education.
